Active Week 2020

Wow! What a week it has been?

Well done to all of you for your amazing participation in a very different type of “GSNS Active Week” this year. Teachers have been blown away by some amazing photos and videos – both at home and out and about in your area, that you have been posting all week to both Seesaw and ClassDojo. We’ve seen some lovely healthy meals being prepared and eaten. We’ve had posters and art about how we’re all trying our best to keep fit and stay safe during this time. We’ve had every type of sport being tried out and have seen some super videos and photos of bike rides, hikes, trampoline jumping, football skills, hurling skills, boxing drills, goalie challenges, hula hooping, yoga poses, basketball drills and shots, rugby skills, tennis activities, badminton and picnics in the sun and rain to name but a few!

We also want to CONGRATULATE each and every one of you who tried out some of the YouTube challenges that were set daily. A huge thanks to Ms Maggie Doyle for hounding coaches and sports stars to help us make this year’s Active Week one to remember. Ms Doyle – none of this could have happened without your enthusiasm and help. We are so very lucky to have you.

We would also like to say a very big special GSNS THANK YOU to those who gave so generously of their time to make video challenges for our boys and girls.

  • THANK YOU to Stephanie Roche, Ireland’s soccer star, for her skills challenge
  • THANK YOU to Luke Nolan a past pupil of GSNS for his fitness skills and drills challenge
  • THANK YOU to Donal Gormley from Ballinteer St Johns for his GAA skills challenge
  • THANK YOU to Paul Carr from Basketball Ireland for his basketball challenge video
  • THANK YOU to Grainne Walsh from Team Ireland for her boxing skills and drills challenge
  • THANK YOU to Hannah Tyrrell, Ireland rugby international, for her ball handling skills challenges
  • THANK YOU to Danny Allen for his soccer challenge whilst making Maggie a cup of tea!!
  • THANK YOU to Ms Johnson and Ms Maggie Doyle for their fun filled mini sports day video with inspiration on lots of games that can be played at home with very little equipment

And finally a very big THANK YOU to all of the boys and girls from GSNS for giving their very best effort this week all the while with smiles on their faces. We know and appreciate how hard these times are. We know you are missing your friends and maybe even your teachers. We are really missing you too.

This week was a  real team effort and we sincerely hope you had a super fun filled week and enjoyed the break from the books !

Check out some of the photos below and don’t forget to check out our YouTube channel too for some videos.

Stay safe everyone and well done again.
